I would like to know more about meeting with members on an individual basis. How often do you meet 1:1 with members of your community? How do you organize the meetings?
- Do you include a link to book a chat as part of your onboarding?
- Do you randomly select people each week?
- Do you talk to people who have been particularly active?
When I was working on international Stack Overflow communities we did not have regular 1:1 but we were always available in chat. So folks could grab us any time they needed. The rationale is that our goal was to support users so we needed to be present the moment when they needed us.
On top of that, I dedicated one day per week when I was fully present in chat, i.e. my priority on that day of week was to chat with users and build relationships with them. If it was a group chat, fine! If someone wanted to chat 1:1, it was fine as well.
In other words, 1:1 chat was all the time per user request.
