Monthly Contribution Frequency
Monthly contribution frequency refers to the number of actions a user performs in the community in a given month. It is used to assess the level of engagement of a user.
Question answered by the metric
What is the number of actions a user performs on days when they are active?
Steps to measure
- Get the number of meaningful actions a user performed during a given month.
- Get the number of unique days the user was active during the given month.
- Calculate the frequency by dividing the number of actions by the number of active days.
- Calculate the frequency for all users who have been active during the given month.
- Calculate the average frequency for the given month.
Interpretation
The higher the value of this metric, the more actions on average users take in a given day. If the value is close to one, this indicates possible problems with engagement and the transactional nature of participation, when a user publishes a post and does not appear in the community again during the day. This, in turn, may also be a consequence of slow communication dynamics.
