To calculate the number of answers per a new user’s question, one needs to do the following.
- Identify all new users’ questions
- Calculate the number of answers posted in each question asked by new users
- Calculate the average value for the period of interest.
Interpretation
The more answers are posted in a discussion, the more interesting it is (and the higher the engagement of the users who participate in it). Our task is to increase the value of this metric.
A low value of this metric usually indicates that there are few experts in the community, or they have difficulty finding new discussions. If the number of answers per topic for new users and for regular users differs greatly, most likely, there are some specifics in your community that need to be taught to new users, like community rules or how your forum functions.
