The number of users with whom a new user might have a contact with shows how many unique users a new user has encountered during their first 30 days on the site.

Steps to measure
To calculate the number of answers per a new user’s question, one needs to do the following.
- Identify all new users
- For each new user, find all discussions they were part of
- Count all unique users who have participated in the same discussions
- Calculate the average value for the period of interest.
Interpretation
A high value of this metric indicates that, on average, many different people participate in the same discussions together. We can say that the more different opinions and views are present, the more interesting the discussion. Therefore, our goal is to increase the value of this metric.
Typical reasons for a low value of this metric are too many different sub-threads on a forum or a small number of experts engaged in the discussions.
