There is a saying in startup circles
If you are not ashamed of the first version of your product, then you released it too late.
I launched the first version of the application in late February / early March!. Yay!
The application is extremely simple. Imagine that you are building an online community. Once a month, you need to report on the progress to your boss. When you present the data, your boss says something like this.
5% growth of MAU per year is not enough, right? Can we grow at a rate of 15% next year?
What would you answer?
You know everything about your community, but you cannot assess how good your metrics are, since you do not know what these metrics look like in other communities. But I know this, because I collected data from more than 200 public online communities and calculated metrics for each of them.
During March, I received the first portion of feedback for the application from the first real users. In addition, I added several new metrics and added exception handling to existing ones. In addition, I did research to set the filter values (the idea of the filters is to allow users to effectively separate communities in the dataset on which we calculate benchmarks.) After that, I conducted a study of engagement levels and implemented automatic splitting into levels.
